Who We Are

Our beginnings started in the late 1980’s and in 1990, Campaign For A Drug Free Westside, Inc., (CFDFW) was incorporated as a 501 (C) (3) private community-based Not-for-profit, social service agency. Over the years, CFDFW has provided a multitude of social service programs throughout Chicago’s Westside community, services such as, HIV/AIDS education, DUI evaluation and Risk education, substance abuse early intervention and prevention to youth, teens and adults. We have served as the lead agency to organize and host community stakeholders to strengthen community services. Of course, this is only a partial sampling of our services we have provided over the years. Our primary focus today, as it was yesteryear, is our;

What We Do

Drug addiction is a disease on par with hypertension and diabetes, and while a number of people have had treatment for the disease of  addiction, many have relapsed to the disease. We recognize the need to help recovering individuals maintain their sobriety and offer: Recovery Support Services (RSS). One of the programs offered through RSS is Recovery Coaching, also known as Peer to Peer mentoring, a strength-based approach that fosters health, resiliency and wellness. Recovery Coaching services are typically delivered through social support domains of:  
Emotional, Informational, Instrumental and Affiliation Support to individuals and their families in their efforts to remain free of addiction and to improve their overall Wellness. Recovery Coaches assist individuals and families by:
· Promoting recovery and identify barriers and obstacles to recovery.
· Help to initiate and sustain an individual/family in their recovery from substance use or addiction.
· Help an individual find ways to stop using (abstinence) or reduce harm associated with addictive behaviors
· Help a client find resources, i.e. Detox, treatment, family support , education, local/online support groups and assist clients in creating a  (recovery plan) to maintain their own recovery.

 In addition to our individual recovery support services, we offer ‘Life Skills/Educational Workshops’ to groups in Recovery Homes, Independent Living, Shelters, Transitional Living and other facilities where the need exists.

We Also Offer

Access to Recovery (ATR–IV) is a supplemental program of services eligible for voucher reimbursement under Access to Recovery IV Services. Our focus enrollment for (ATR-IV) is:
Employment Coaching: Group sessions that provide clients with skills and practice related to overcoming barriers to achieving employment, i.e., video mock-interviews, mock-applications, etc.
Employment Training:   Classroom group sessions that teach clients Manufacturing Technology skills that will result in gainful employment.
Recovery Skills Workshops:  designed to assist clients in or seeking recovery or sustain recovery from alcohol and drug use and moderate mental illness.
